29.01.2017 « We are all part of this movement » said Shanie Roy, young survivor of prostitution, at the opening of the 2nd World Congress against sexual exploitation of women and girls, in front of a crowded auditorium with activists, parlementarians, politicians, survivors of prostitution, representatives of vulnerable women and girls, young abolitionist leaders, trade unions, NGOs from all over the world.

Member of the CAP International, the Scelles Foundation will continue to contribute to this global fight against sexual exploitation.

Four Last Girls, survivors of sexual exploitation from diverse backgrounds and cultural contexts, coming from Ireland, France, Canada and India, delivered powerful testimonies. The similarities in their experiences highlighted the universality of sexual exploitation and violence around the world, and the universality of the systems including patriarchy, inequality and racism that underpin it.

Last Girls, are exploited worldwide ! In fact,“The world is hostile and violent towards women and girls” told us Ashley Judd, American feminist activist and UN Population Fund Goodwill Ambassador. That’s why Ruchira Gupta, founder of Apne Aap, called to action to give the women the right to choose.

This Congress is a unique opportunity to bring a strong and unified response to this issue, “to ensure that never again women could be sold or bought” as said Rachel Moran and Rosen Hicher, and “to be able to change future generation”, concluded Fatima Khatoon.

The #LastGirlFirst World Congress is organized by the Coalition for the Abolition of Prostitution (Cap International) and Apne Aap Women Worldwide.
