Plenary sessions and workshops to find effective solutions and get involved

This international meeting will develop round 6 main themes to promote significant progress in terms of prevention and fight against sexual exploitation (victims, situation in south Asia, trade-unions, legislation, youth, new technologies;

- How is it possible to fight against the sexual exploitation of the worldwide most marginalized women and girls? Victims of incest and sexual violence, native women and children, communities of inferior castes, migrant women and children, women and girls from the ethnic minorities are always the first victims of sexual exploitation by procurers, traffickers and “clients”;

- Which are the recommendations and actions to be established in order to address efficiently the realities of the sexual exploitation in the south Asian region countries (SAARC)? This meeting offers a unique opportunity to evaluate the situation in this region, including the regional challenges and exploitation flows (from Nepal towards India, from Bangladesh towards Pakistan and India, from the origin and transit countries towards the Persian Gulf and the Middle-East…);

- How to reinforce the action of many trade-unions who denounce women and girls’ sexual and economic exploitation, in strong opposition with the ultraliberal concept of “sex work”? An international inter trade-unions coalition against commercial sexual exploitation will be initiated during this congress, strategies will be developed and an international Call against the commercial sexual exploitation of others will be launched;

- Which are the best legislative models likely to end sexual exploitation? Crossing experiences will allow to establish recommendations for progressist legislative reforms, to present the adopted abolitionist models and the evaluated results in relation with the victims’ protection and support as well as the penalization of the “demand”;

- Which concrete strategies may be elaborated by youth and student movements in terms of abolition? The new generation of abolitionist leaders is very much involved in this fight: as the sex industry’s first victims, young people also promote a new conception of equality and sexuality that is incompatible women’s subordination to men’s domination, privileges and economic power;

-How to best utilize new technologies for the combat against commercial sexual exploitation ? In the face of the web which presents exploiters with unprecedented advantages ( facilitated exchanges, financial transactions, extraterritoriality, recruitment and sale available online, anonymous “clients”…), the point is to define the best practices and tools to counter cyber-exploitation, to identify innovating technological tracks, to reinforce the abolitionist combat and the victims’ protection.
